It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.
