“In spite of this large quantity of deaths, throughout the conflict not one individual has been detained,” the official noted. “There exist no charges over any death.

“While these practices remain in effect, all Palestinian detainees in confinement is in danger, including the physically well individuals, also the youth who have no health problems.”

Notable Incidents

Certain fatalities in confinement have been publicly known, including a middle-aged medical chief who died in detention after four months in custody.

An inmate incarcerated with the individual testified that he was led to the courtyard by prison staff shortly before his passing, visibly injured and unclothed from the hips downward. His remains remains unreleased to Gaza.

Additional detainees who lost their lives in detention in Israel remain anonymous. The prison service and military gave investigators with the number of casualties in confinement, and basic further data such as the facility where they lost their lives, but without the inmates’ personal details.
