'People are fearful' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

It's clear why Arsenal have become numerous fans' preferred choice to secure the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace in contrast with those equivalent matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but lost 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Rearguard

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are looking well positioned to at last realize their title target.

They stand first for clean sheets (6), shots let in (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and xGA (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the best in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but rival sides still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Championship Claims

What is even more notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City on home turf - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer signings in search of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three straight Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with confidence and resolve.
