The artist has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the UK's grassroots concert spaces.
He was given the award on mid-October as his latest record the album was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.
He has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots played in his beginning days.
"I personally wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the gigs I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."
Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – approximately 16 percent of the total UK scene.
In the last year, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.
Fender also joined in, raising over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous local spots across the UK.
These funds supported locations that were dealing with imminent closure due to difficulties stemming from floods, fires and personal losses, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and sound issues.
Some locations obtained funding support in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that helped musicians and concertgoers.
"The notion that funds from concerts in large arenas supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has commented.
He is far from the only musician to contribute his honor funds to charitable organizations.
In Pulp won the prize in 1996 for their album Different Class, vocalist Cocker announced that the act would donate their cash to the organization War Child.
During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her prize across a few organizations, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"I also gave a grand to the center, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," the artist shared with the media.
In recent years, they contributed their winnings to the local youth club that developed their act, in addition to other local music groups.
Additionally 1994 winners M People donated their prize to a MS organization after a friend was found to have the condition.
"The victory was sufficient," stated singer Small. "The cash was the cherry on top but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our success affected somebody else's life."
In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had rescued two grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.
The Joiners in that area and The Croft in that location were acquired under the Own Our Venues program, which is funded by a national body and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
